Practice Adds Permanence
Shawn Byler
With all that you do, you are adding permanence.
Have you ever thought about this simple, but profound idea? The Practice Adds Permanence concept is applicable and life changing when applied to career, family, emotional balance, play, finances, child rearing … in short, all aspects of life. This week, I’d like you to merely grasp an understanding of what the Practice Adds Permanence model looks like.
This idea essentially asks you to recognize that you’re constantly getting better and more skilled at whatever you’re doing, being or feeling in every moment of life. Be it anger or love, resentment or forgiveness, efficiency of inefficiency, gossiping or trustworthiness, judging or accepting, distraction or focus, lying or honesty, victimhood or empowerment, effectiveness or ineffectiveness, procrastination or pro-activity, spending or saving, anxious or calm, time management or time wasting.
No matter what you’re doing, you’re becoming more proficient at that task, emotional pattern, habit, style of communication, or behavior simply because you are practicing it. All you do, think or say is improving by the second. Just to be clear… Every second of every day you are creating permanence to that which you are doing, feeling, projecting, or being.
Take Action!
I challenge you to become aware of the patterns, emotions, habits and behaviors that dominate your life. Are these actions, behaviors and beliefs you want to maintain? Are they serving your best efforts? What have you added permanence to that you’d like to replace?
