Just F O C U S.
When we just focus, we are happier and more productive. AND we are even able to decide what we should do in the first place!
This week, I want you to:
- Pick 3 main areas of your life that you want to focus on
- Make a list of all the things you do each week that take up your time
- Begin to eliminate those things not on your top three list
I know this sounds really simple—but I find most of my clients aren’t aware of how much is weighing them down that they don’t even want to do.
My example from a few years ago:
- Three main areas of focus: Family Time, Exercise Time, and Time to Focus on Being An Entrepreneur/Writer
- Family time, exercise, WORK, PTA, cleaning the house, running numerous errands, and trying to learn how to cook!
- Resign from PTA, get dry cleaning picked up at door, hire housecleaner, order as much as possible online and have it shipped, purchase healthy frozen meals for family from Dream Dinners
Update: Yes, I did indeed complete number 3 above and a few more. I even “fired” my husband from lawn care too so he could spend more time with the kids on the weekend.
Until next week–keep creating the life you desire.

Sheri,
I’m totally with you (I have a “wife” team that does all the laundry, most of the errands and all the cleaning) and have outsourced as many things as possible. For the most part, I spend time doing the things I want to focus on. BUT, I’m still working waayyy too many hours. Any suggestions??? ;->

Jenn, I can relate! The more I outsource (I’m working on a chauffer as most people close to me know I am terrible at driving), the more I find myself consumed in work. I don’t think it’s a problem that I enjoy my work so much; it’s when it interferes in other aspects of my life that I have to take stock in my priorities. I have learned to balance my workaholic tendencies with expectations from my family and loved ones. What I mean is that if my husband wants to take me to dinner -that is first! I book him in my calendar and make sure nothing gets in the way of that. Sounds odd perhaps to some, but I find that unless it’s a priority and in my calendar, it’s easy to prioritize other things. BTW - I now try to make it a point to take my husband to dinner! - Reshma
