Dating and Relationship questions: What scares you? - Part 7
Amy Schoen
How is your Halloween month going? Have you come up against some scary dating gremlins that have been mentioned in my previous blog posts this month? Believe it or not, there are two more that I have uncovered that we will discuss during the tail end of October that will offer you some relationship help.
This week’s gremlin is the There is no one for me gremlin. There is a belief that you will never meet your true love relationship. This gremlin is devoid of all hope and is very defeating. So you have a choice- to believe this gremlin who is keeping you in the realm of scarcity. Or do you choose to not listen and focus on the possibility that there is someone for you given the numbers of singles out there who are also looking for a serious relationship. Here you are coming from a place of abundance.
One of my past clients came to me wanting relationship help on meeting a life partner. She was in her late 50’s, beautiful, active and had a good profession. She held the philosophy, “There are no good men out there”. We started to explore other perspectives about meeting men. It was raining out side during our coaching session and I asked her to give me the “rain” perspective on meeting men to date. She came up with “It’s raining men” from the song! Yes, if you look at the statistics, between divorces, people moving (DC has a lot of people coming and going), and those who are widows, there is a plenty of men to meet in her age group.
We set up a plan for her to get out and meet eligible men to date. Since one of her values was to live a healthy, active life, she chose to attend activities that required some physical activity such as hiking and tennis. She chose not to listen to this insidious gremlin. She also worked on an internet dating campaign with me. She did meet several eligible men to date when she went out and was open to meet them!
My dating advice to you is to really see how this gremlin may hold you down and keeps you doing nothing. (What’s the use, there are no good men out there!).
Today I have these relationship questions for you: Are you living with the scarcity gremlin of there are no good men out there? What do you want to choose for yourself in order to keep you in the perspective of abundance?
This inquiring relationship coach wants to know your answers to these relationship questions and any comments you may have!
Your relationship coach,
Amy
