How do you Plan on Preparing for the Holidays as a Single Person? - Part 2.
Amy Schoen
In this blog post my dating advice will be about other ways to be pro-active prior to the holidays to ensure a satisfying time of the year. Many of my clients like to travel and find that they can take time off during Christmas through New Years. Some people have work situations where they have to use it or lose it when it comes to their vacation benefits.
So where would you like to go? You may want to take a trip to the Caribbean if you live on the East Coast. Or if you are on the West Coast, you may want to visit Hawaii. For you skiers, you may want to head out West to the Rockies or to Canada for early snow. Some of you may want to take a tour of Europe. If you want to take a trip, you will need to plan ahead to get reasonable airfare and hotel accommodations. If you want to take an organized tour, there may only be a set number of openings. Therefore, planning ahead is always best.
Another way to be pro-active is to plan a way to bring people together. You can have a party yourself for your single friends. It’s always good if you can have everyone bring one friend of the opposite sex to widen up the pool of potential people to date.
Every year I hold a dinner for Jewish singles on Christmas Day at a Chinese restaurant in Washington, DC. It started with a couple of friends when I was single. Besides, what do Jewish singles do on Christmas day- besides going to the movies? Last year we had over 30 singles show up. It’s become a yearly tradition.
One of my single friends has a New Years Day party every year. It became the place to go on New Years Day. Everyone brings a dish to share with everyone. I see many familiar faces as well as some new ones too.
My dating advice to you is instead of waiting to see what is going on, how about creating something that gets people together?
What do you intend to plan for the holidays?
