Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about hope. It started the night our new President was elected. I, for the first time in a long time was filled with an overwhelming sense of hope. As a business and life coach I hear it all. From the trials and tribulations of business ownership to the juggle and struggle of maintaining balance in a 21st century life - it’s universal. You are working your tail off to support yourself and live your dream. Knowing what it takes to keep a business thriving can sometimes make you wonder why anyone goes into business for themselves. It reminds me of childbirth, no woman EVER says she’s willing to have another baby in the throws of labor, but guess what - the population keeps growing. If you live anywhere but under a rock it’s hard to avoid the recent economic reality we find ourselves in as a nation. Regardless of your political affiliation it’s overwhelming trying to decipher what it all means and stressful wondering if it’s going to be ok. Try as I do to monitor how much media I allow myself to consume, it effects me as a citizen, but even more as a small business owner. (more…)

The other day my sixteen-year-old daughter came home from school practically in tears. Sensing her distress I gently inquired as to how her day was. With animated emotion, she began to tell me about the project she is working on in science class. She’s studying electricity and has to build an electric generator. She made it abundantly clear to me that she’s never felt “dumber“ in her whole life and she hates the project. (more…)
