Expression of Voice

Through an organization called Toastmasters, I mentor women inmates at the Maui Community Correctional Center (MCCC) in communication and leadership skills. It’s amazing to see the transformations that occur with these women. During the first meeting, most are hesitant to even introduce themselves. Then after a few weeks they’re volunteering for every available speaking role and starting to enthusiastically make their way through the speech workbook.

Got A Strategic Plan?

I’ve recently heard countless business owners say they aren’t taking the time this year to do strategic planning for the coming year. They’re claiming that because of the slow economy and less business, planning isn’t that important or they’ll just use the plan from previous years.

To that I say, “what the hell?”.

Being in the midst of an economic downturn is the most imperative time to have a solid actionable strategic plan. And as for using last year’s plan, it’s completely useless. With this economy, last year’s plan may as well be from another type of business! (more…)

Sound familiar? More than 85% of women business owners feel overwhelmed much or MOST of the time (isn’t that staggering?), while at least 55% suffer stress related health problems, as well as major time deficiencies, and overwhelm associated with juggling too many life and career obligations.

Women business owners and leaders are dynamic, powerful go-getters … and, they’re over-scheduled, over-worked, over-stressed, usually over-weight, and overwhelmed.
